To vote in the May 6th primary, you must be registered by April 11th.


You must be:
  • Be a resident of North Carolina and of the county where you wish to vote for at least 30 days prior to the election
  • Be a registered Democrat or Unaffiliated
  • Be 18 years or older by the day of the general election, November 4, 2008
In addition, a North Carolina resident who is qualified to vote but who misses the deadline for voter registration may register and vote at a One-Stop Site during the One-Stop Absentee Voting period. The One-Stop Voting period extends from 19 to 3 days before Election Day. Find more information here.

When registering voters, please be aware that it is a misdemeanor to offer a voter registration form with the party premarked unless someone specifically requests a premarked form.
